Chloe Uden, Naomi Wright and Jenny Ayrton are pictured sewing together a small selection of the 20,000 moths, at the Buckfast Butterfly Farm, South Devon.

20,000 hand-crafted moths will be used to create an immersive display for COP26, the UN climate change conference. Made by people all over the world, the moths will represent a creative call for urgent action on climate change.

As visitors walk through the installation at Glasgow Botanic Gardens, they will hear whispers of hope and encouragement recorded by people who want their voices to be heard.

‘Moths to a Flame’ is run by the Devon-based Art and Energy Collective in partnership with Plymouth Energy Community. Participants across the South West, nationally and internationally are creating moths and recording their messages as part of the project.

Almost 7,000 moths have been made so far by groups from Devon to Australia, and people are invited to create their own moths to be part of the installation.
</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/jimw-somerset-art-weeks-38.jpg</image:loc><image:title>jimw-somerset-art-weeks-38</image:title><image:caption>Picture By Jim Wileman - **IMAGE FREE TO USE**&#13;
Artist Jacky Oliver has created a large-scale kinetic sculpture for Somerset Art Weeks. The 3-meter-wide sculpture draws inspiration from the artist’s research into the ways horses have been central to Somerset’s rural heritage. Using the idea of horses’ blinkers, the artist has created the pieces of the sculpture from leather, steel, and brass etched with words and drawings from archives. The installation is at Somerset Rural Life Museum’s 14th-century Abbey Barn from 24 September until 9 October.&#13;

Artist James Paddock aims to address the stigma around mental health through an exhibition at Exeter Phoenix.&#13;
&#13;
James uses his lived experience of voice hearing to reveal stories and insights though the exhibition, ‘Life could be done so much better’.&#13;
&#13;
The exhibition includes an art installation inspired by James’s experience of mental illness.&#13;
&#13;
A fence constructed in the gallery has holes cut into it, reflecting James’s personal experience of being sectioned (kept in hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983) and having escaped institutions.&#13;

The exhibition ‘Life could be done so much better’ is at Exeter Phoenix from 18 November 2023 to 4 February 2024.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/jimw-james-paddock-47.jpg</image:loc><image:title>jimw-james-paddock-47</image:title><image:caption>Picture by Jim Wileman &#13;

Artist Jane Mowat has created an 8-metre-long installation at Muchelney Church. The embroidery, which runs from the font and down the church nave, was created for Somerset Art Weeks. Inspired by the theme of ‘Sanctuary’, the artist created the embroidery for the church in Muchelney – a small area which is safe from the regular flooding in the Somerset levels. Reflecting on global climate change, the artist has created images of native plants over the seasons, exploring above and below the surface of the water of the local river.&#13;
The installation is at the Church of St Peter &amp; St Paul, Muchelney from 24 September until 9 October.&#13;

Heather specialised in images of horses created in driftwood and bronze. Her life-size sculptures are held in collections around the world.&#13;The award is a sculpture by Heather Jansch – a small bronze horse head modelled on her own horse, RaRa. The sculpture has been donated by Heather’s family and will be kept for one year before passing on to the next awardee. The Award has been set up by Devon Artist Network to celebrate the contribution Heather made to Devon Open Studios, an annual event held across the county.&#13;For further information: Gillian Taylor 07761 546075 Gillian@gilliantaylorpr.com</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2021-09-16T13:09:37+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/news/</loc><lastmod>2021-07-22T13:00:05+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/training/training-during-lockdown/</loc><lastmod>2021-07-22T09:38:16+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/training/training-and-workshops/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/img_3767-ed3-e1591354284643.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_3767 ed3</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2020-05-08T13:39:04+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/training/getting-your-story-in-the-news/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/fullsizerender-ed3-e1590514124467.jpg</image:loc><image:title>FullSizeRender ed3</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2020-05-08T13:32:24+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/training/broadcast-interviews-from-home/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/dpo-gt-interview-e1591354349128.jpg</image:loc><image:title>DPO GT interview</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2020-05-08T13:30:35+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com/training/crisis-communications/</loc><lastmod>2020-05-08T13:28:15+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://gilliantaylorpr.com</loc><changefreq>daily</changefreq><priority>1.0</priority><lastmod>2025-11-04T14:48:53+00:00</lastmod></url></urlset>
